The Uckermark
on the doorstep
Lübbenow lies in the municipality of Uckerland, between Pasewalk and Prenzlau. The gently rolling landscape is also called the Tuscany of the Uckermark. Fields, avenues and lakes, with Szczecin within reach for a day trip.
Three minutes on foot
The village church of 1515
The church is currently being restored by the German Foundation for Monument Protection. Woodworm and a roof at risk of collapse made that necessary. The baroque baptismal angel of 1727, its broken arm currently splinted, waits in a neighbouring church to return.
Opening times depend on the building work. Ask locally and we will tell you who has the key.
Day trips
Worth the drive
Gutsdorf Wolfshagen, 10 km
The village of the von Schwerin family. The neo-Gothic church was built between 1850 and 1858, with Luther and Calvin at the portal. There is also the 17-metre King’s Column of 1834, the family burial ground and the restored Blankenburg castle ruin on the Haussee, whose tower stands 24 metres tall. For a church wedding this is the obvious address.
Prenzlau, 25 km
The district town sits on Lake Unteruckersee and has a lakeside promenade that deserves the name. In St Mary’s Church, 234 steps lead up the tower, and from the top the Uckermark lies flat and wide below. The Dominican monastery dates from the 13th century.
Pasewalk, 13 km
The nearest town for shopping, a pharmacy and the railway station. Worth seeing are the historic Lindenbad baths and St Mary’s Church. If you need bread rolls on a Sunday, this is where you drive.
Stettin, rund 45 Autominuten
Szczecin is the big city of the region: the Chrobry Embankment above the Oder, coffee houses, market halls and prices that spare the family budget. A good day out for the adults while the rest of the group stays by the lake.

At the house
Lake, boat, rod
Behind the manor house the park slopes down to Lake Lübbenow, whose reed belt reaches the property. A rowing boat for four is ready and costs 50 euros for the week. Anyone wanting to fish can get a permit locally for 60 euros. There is a bathing beach on the opposite shore. Early in the morning the shore offers a concert of rare birds.
In autumn cranes cross the fields; in summer the evenings on the terrace are long. Cycle paths start at the edge of the village, and the terrain is flat enough for children and demanding enough for adults.
